Once a shoe gets around half off I stop comparing it to retail and start asking whether the price fits the role I would actually use it for.

The 9060 is not my favorite New Balance, but I am not going to pretend the hype is fake. People clearly like them and the comfort reputation is strong. I see way more women wearing them than men, and the whole point is that oversized, clunky shape. That bulk is very much part of the current look. I just do not think it has the same long-term staying power as the 990 family. That is exactly why I like the shoe more at $80 than $160. Half off takes away a lot of the trend tax. If you like the look, wear them with pants that can handle the volume. Wider or relaxed bottoms make way more sense to me than trying to squeeze a giant shoe under skinny jeans.
